Family Outings- originally posted 10/13/10

I would like to start off this blog by mentioning that there are only 310 days left before the wedding! I sure hope that this year flashes by in a blaze of glory. Moving on, Eric and I have had the greatest blessing of getting to spend lots of time with Adam and Mandy lately. Last month we took a trip to Lincoln City for shopping and some beach time. Just last weekend we took a mini-vacation to Sunriver. We planned it out because Eric was already going to be in Bend for a board retreat so on Friday I got to drive the Versa up to get him before heading to Sunriver. The drive over to Bend was absolutely amazing! The sun was shining through the golden leaves and a soft breeze was blowing the tree branches...sheer beauty! After I met up with Eric in Bend we drove to Sunriver where we had rented out a vacation home to share with Adam and Mandy. It was a 2 bedroom house with a big screen TV, full kitchen, and A HOT TUB! The weekend was filled with relaxing, watching movies, listening to the duck game (silly Comcast), playing Scrabble, and doing homework (Caitlin) blah! On Saturday night we made the trip out to Cowboy Dinner Tree which was A-mazing. At Cowboy Dinner Tree you have to make reservations in advance and make your dinner order at the time of your reservation. This is made easy because there are only 2 options and you CANNOT SHARE ENTREES.  You can choose between a whole chicken or a 30oz steak. There was no question for me, if you are met with the opportunity to even see a 30oz steak you DO NOT SAY NO. So dinner started out with salad, then bean soup (delicious!) and rolls, Steak AND a baked potato, finished off with strawberry and marionberry shortcake. It was so fabulous! We had enough leftovers for a whole week.

The lovely establishment.
30 ounces of sheer perfection... I felt like a Flinstone. And don't worry, nobody finished their's.
All of us together after dinner :)

One of the best parts was that we didn't have to feel sad that the weekend was over because we get to see Adam and Mandy again this weekend! This weekend is girl/guy's day ending with a little Halloween celebration. This weekend is the annual Bridal Showcase in Eugene so the girls are going on Saturday while the boys go shooting and then we are meeting up to go out to Lone Pine farms to pick pumpkins and watch the boys' favorite Halloween movie: Hocus Pocus! Have I mentioned how much I love Halloween? We have had Eric's apartment decorated since October 2nd. I am so excited that next year Eric and I will be decorating our own place for Halloween.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
